are a mixed voice choir of approximately 65 singers based in Pershore, Worcestershire with members drawn largely from Pershore and the surrounding area.
The choir was formed in 2007 by the current Musical Director David Barclay and has more than doubled in number over the past nine years. Under Davidís skilful leadership we are developing a wide-ranging repertoire, which includes choral music from the high Classical period, such as Hallelujah from Handelís Messiah, unaccompanied songs from the 16th century, secular and sacred works as well as more contemporary music and songs from the shows.
We are privileged to hold our rehearsals in the beautiful Baptist Church in Pershore and also perform many of our concerts here, although we sometimes use other venues, such as Pershore Abbey and other local churches and village halls in the surrounding area. We often sing at weddings and funerals and our services are in strong demand.
Our aim is to have fun singing and at the same time contribute to the music and cultural life of the area, and as such, you will find us taking part in events like the Pershore Plum Festival in August and the turning on of the Christmas Lights in the build up to the festive season.
2017 will be a busy year for us as this will be our 10th Anniversary. There will be lots of exciting events planned, such as pop up choirs around Pershore and possibly even a trip abroad to sing in Bad Neustadt, our twin town in Germany.
Every year Pershore Town Choir nominate a charity to benefit from our concerts. This year our chosen charity is Riversides.
